The Press Conference of the Parents of the South Asians whose children are engaged by the Immigration Department
According to some South Asian parents, their children are engaged by the Immigration Department, when releasing from prison, after finishing their sentences.
Up to now, according to them, at least 12 of their children are kept. They all got Hong Kong Identity Cards (not permanent citizens).
Some of them have been kept for 2-3 years.
Their children will be never known the time the Immigration Department will release them. Though their sentences were finished and willing to correct themselves, they cannot enjoy liberty.
Their children think that it is violated to human rights. They will start hunger strike in the Detention Center of the Immigration Department in Castle Peak Bay on 1st August 2007.
In order to support them, their parents, with the help of Hong Kong Community Development Network had called for a Press Conference on 31st July 2007.
The parents had told the situations of their children who are in the Detention Center of the Immigration Department in Castle Peak Bay, their demands and introduced the hunger strike.
